Abstract

   "Maidan is a poignant biographical sports drama directed by Amit Sharma and starring Ajay Devgn that captures the essence of India's football history through the life and achievements of coach Syed Abdul Rahim during the 1950s and 1960s. Set against the backdrop of the golden era of Indian football, the film chronicles Rahim's journey to rebuild the national team after the 1952 Summer Olympics defeat, highlighting his innovative strategy and leadership that earned India the nickname "Brazil of Asia". This paper explores the historical and cultural context of the film, its narrative and thematic elements, and the portrayal of key characters, emphasizing the collective spirit and teamwork inherent in football.
