Vision 2047: Transforming Education and Health for a Developed Nation
Abstract
Vision 2047 lays out a bold and cohesive plan for India to achieve developed nation status by the centenary of its independence, with education and health as its two interdependent pillars driving this transformation. This paper contends that comprehensive reforms in these sectors, rooted in principles of equity, innovation, and governance, have the potential to drive sustainable socioeconomic development. Essentially, the paper brings together modern evidence and theories to lay out practical strategies. These strategies focus on revamping curricula for future-ready skills, boosting teacher development and institutional capacity, ensuring universal quality healthcare with strong public systems and digital infrastructure, and aligning health and education policies to tackle social factors and build human capital. The proposed roadmap outlines key policy priorities, funding approaches, governance changes, systems for tracking and assessing progress, and ways for the public and private sectors to collaborate. It acknowledges potential challenges like fiscal constraints, governance fragmentation, inequities, and technological divides and it proposes ways to address and mitigate them. In conclusion, the paper sets specific goals and timelines leading up to vision 2047, emphasizing the importance of communities, civil society, and collaboration across different sectors to ensure resilient and inclusive progress.
